Hope: Day 7

I broke down again. I did. But last night, just like a many other nights, I began to recite over and over again “No height nor depth can separate us from the love of Jesus”. I said this over and over until it was calm…and until I could tell myself for the night “Everhthing is going to be alright”. Look, no matter what your storm is. No matter if it’s a mental thing, a physical thing, or spiritual…or if you’re like me, ALL THREE…you need hope. You need faith. You need belief. And I’m finding that all three can only get stronger if you work, if you remain consistent but most importantly-if you fight. This is just a lesson for me and to you. Life is not all ups. There’s some downs. Who knows? You might have more downs than ups, but promise me these things:

1) no matter what life throws, DO NOT PLAY VICTIM. It’s your life. YOU ARE A NOT A VICTIM. I learned from a very good friend…YOU ARE A SURVIVOR.

2) stay grounded. For me, I’m choosing to stay grounded in God. It’s what I was taught to believe and it’s what I choose to continue to believe. For He knows the plans for me…and everything I’m going through, EVERYTHING, is for my greater good.

3) DO NOT GIVE UP. Life will beat you if you let. Your mind will beat you if you let it (TRUST ME). You are stronger than you think.
Hope? This week has been…difficult, but my hope remains. I’ve spent so much of my time praying “God, deliver me from this” , “God, I feel like” or “God, remove my anxiety” but see it’s NOT ABOUT US. Life is not meant to be lived selfishly. Also, keep in mind your “feelings” will deceive you. So hope? I’ve got it. I’ve vowed to myself, I’m not letting “life” get me in slumps. Tomorrow, I’m taking my own physical life, my own spiritual life, and my own mental life in my own hands. Most importantly, I’m giving my life to God. I want to be removed from the wheel and let Him drive.

So, hope? I leave you with the first verse of this hymn:

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;

I dare not trust the sweetest frame,

But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;

All other ground is sinking sand.
Cast away your negative thoughts, IT IS SINKING SAND.
